Microsoft Open Specifications Promise

September 12, 2006: In the wake of controversy surrounding patents in learning technology recently awarded to Blackboard, Microsoft has issued a pledge, promising "not to assert" any claims to 35 Web Services patents it holds. These include things key technologies like the WS-* specifications, WSDL and SOAP.
