Service Genres

Service genres that have been documented, submitted and approved by the e-Framework are listed below.

Service Genres describe generic capabilities expressed in terms of their behaviours, without prescribing how to make them operational.

  • Hyperlinked Service Genre names link to technical descriptions of the Service Genres.
  • Some Service Genres do not yet have technical descriptions. These are being completed with community assistance.
  • The original Service Genre list was refactored in early 2009 to reflect experience. The current list includes new Service Genres as well as others that were renamed, recombined or split, and redefined. The original list of Service Genres spanning 2006-2008 has been archived here. Some former Service Genre descriptions that represented a bundle of behaviours were revised and then published as Service Usage Models (SUMs).
  • Some recently submitted Service Genre descriptions have not yet been fully reviewed or approved by the e-Framework Review Group. They are identified by the words “Editorially reviewed” below their names on this page and next to the version number on the pages where each is described in detail. They have been published here so they can be viewed and commented on. Please submit your comments via the Feedback panel; be sure to include the name(s) of the Service Genre(s) in the message.
